About the Role:
Our commitment to Surgeon Education is truly our differentiator in the Orthopedic Implant Industry. Rock Medical invests heavily in educating our surgeons at our local lab in Hudson, Ohio. We are incredibly proud to provide a top-notch experience to each and every surgeon that steps foot in our lab, but it takes many skilled teammates to successfully pull this off. We are actively looking to add to our growing team so that we can further enhance the Medical Education experience at Rock Medical.

The Lab Operations Specialist is responsible for the logistical support and overall preparedness at our local lab. Additional responsibilities of this role include:

  • Working with a cross-functional team to ensure every lab is successful. On average, Rock Medical hosts two labs on a weekly basis. Each lab requires several hours to prepare and organize.
  • Maintaining inventory levels of all lab supplies and equipment.
  • Ordering of lab trays and cadaveric specimens.
  • Receiving and organizing all shipped-in lab items.
  • Tracking usage and spending of all lab-related expenses.
  • Building relationships with sales representatives and other key stakeholders to improve efficiencies and the overall local lab experience.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as required. (This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.)

Many of the systems and processes used in this position are specific to Rock Medical and Arthrex. The person in this role will undergo extensive training (self-guided and manager-led) to become an expert on all the necessary tools. In order to be successful, a person in this role must be a quick learner, a strong multitasker, and have impeccable attention to detail. Additionally, they must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and strong relationship-building skills.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable. Experience in the medical industry, such as a Surgical Technologist, OR Technician, Medical Assistant, is also acceptable.
  • Minimum one year of experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

This is a salaried, full-time role (approx. 40 hours/week) that will sit at our office in Hudson, Ohio. The Lab Operations Specialist will report to the Director of Operations. This role may require occasional travel for lab training and set up at other local labs (area hospitals, Toledo office, Arthrex Corporate Headquarters.)

  • Providing unparalleled daily support to our surgeon-customers and their staff in the operating room.
  • Sustaining expert knowledge of our extensive, market-leading product portfolio and current industry trends.
  • Demonstrating the proper use and application of Arthrex products and surgical techniques to surgeons and support staff.
  • Establishing, building, and maintaining strong relationships with all of our customers.
  • Developing and delivering on sales strategies to meet the defined objectives for a specific territory. (This position will specifically work on our West Cleveland Team.)
  • Being an extraordinary teammate: humble, trustworthy, driven.
  • Exuding passion and enthusiasm for Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better.

Few of us enter this role with all the skills necessary to earn the trust of highly-trained surgeons. Our training process consists of a comprehensive medical education and business development program covering products, surgical techniques, sales strategies, and service skills. During the first year of training, our Orthopedic Sales Representatives will observe over 500 surgical procedures and have the opportunity to make an impact on team sales quotas. 

At Rock Medical, we take individual development very seriously. Those who have a strong desire to learn will be provided with plenty of opportunities to grow and develop. Becoming an expert is a process that takes time, discipline, and dedication over many years. The ultimate goal of this role is to become a Certified Technology Consultant.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 2+ years of sales experience in orthopedic/medical device sales or competitive B2B sales preferred.
  • Experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer or Physician Assistant is also acceptable.
  • Must be comfortable in surgery/operating room environments.
